Saghy et al. mapped both complex fractionated atrial electrograms (CFAEs) during atrial fibrillation and fractionated potentials during sinus rhythm in the same patients and found “no significant correlation between SRF and CFAE maps” (r = 0.2, P = NS) and “little overlap between regions of CFAEs during AF and regions of SRF” [Saghy, 2012, PMID 21946341]. These data indicate that sinus-rhythm fractionation does not meaningfully relate to CFAEs recorded during atrial fibrillation.
