Robotically assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALRP) is performed through small trocar ports rather than the lower abdominal incision used for open retropubic radical prostatectomy (RRP). Comparative studies and meta-analyses consistently report that RALRP results in markedly less intra-operative blood loss, lower transfusion requirements, fewer peri-operative complications, and shorter hospital stay—hallmarks of a less-invasive procedure [Parsons & Bennett, 2008, PMID 18267330; Uvin et al., 2010, PMID 20690513; von Ahlen et al., 2024, PMID 39375695].
