Evidence: In a cross-sectional study of 181 ambulatory nursing-home and assisted-living residents with dementia, Algase et al. found that although wandering correlated with physically non-aggressive agitation (PNA), factor analyses demonstrated different underlying structures; the authors concluded that wandering and PNA are “overlapping, but nonequivalent phenomena” [Algase, 2008, PMID: 18378554].
