Cone-beam CT surveys show that the occurrence of two separate palatal roots in maxillary first molars is extremely rare—reported at 0.31 % in a Chinese sample (3/978 teeth) [Yang, 2013, PMID 24120006] and 0.17 % in a Turkish sample (3/1799 teeth) [Aydın, 2021, PMID 33314382]. Both figures fall well below 1 %, supporting the 0–1 % range.
