Corner fractures, bucket-handle metaphyseal fractures, and sub-epiphyseal micro-fractures (the classic metaphyseal lesion) are well-recognized high-specificity indicators of non-accidental injury in infants and young children [Kleinman, 1986, PMID 3485907; Jayakumar, 2010, PMID 20130307]. Wormian bones are extra sutural skull bones seen in several metabolic or genetic disorders (e.g., osteogenesis imperfecta, Menkes disease) and are not themselves considered a marker of child abuse [Droms, 2017, PMID 28318055].
