Congenital protein C deficiency is a thrombophilia that predisposes to deep-vein thrombosis (calf pain) and placental thrombi, leading to recurrent spontaneous abortions, whereas deficiencies of thrombin, plasmin, or factor XIII cause bleeding rather than venous thrombosis.
