Fish-tail deformity is a characteristic late complication of paediatric distal humeral (especially supracondylar or condylar) fractures, caused by avascular necrosis and growth arrest of the trochlea; it is not described after injuries to the tibia, femur or radius [Narayanan 2015, PMID 25527301; Ishii 2024, PMID 38405659].
