Dental pulp contains sensory afferents and a vasomotor autonomic supply that is almost exclusively post-ganglionic sympathetic; convincing functional or structural evidence for parasympathetic or motor fibers is lacking, making sympathetic efferent fibers the relevant autonomic component of the pulp [Olgart, 1996, PMID 8875030; Sasano, 1995, PMID 7499589].
