Birth asphyxia, respiratory distress syndrome and infants of diabetic mothers are well-documented risk groups for neonatal hypoglycaemia (Chanie 2023, PMID 36759521; Wang 2024, PMID 39215269; Hay 2012, PMID 22094826). Post-term infants, in the absence of other problems such as growth restriction, are not considered a routine high-risk category, so they are the exception.
