Studies of unstimulated whole saliva in Sjögren’s syndrome consistently show elevated sodium and IgA levels together with markedly reduced flow rates (< 0.5 mL/min), whereas phosphate tends to fall rather than rise (highest Na⁺/Cl⁻, lowest phosphate concentrations) [Nahir 1987, PMID 3675006; Pedersen 2005, PMID 15740617]. Hence an “increase in phosphate concentration” is the statement that is not true.
