Sjӧgren’s syndrome is classically defined by the sicca triad of xerostomia (dry mouth) and keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eyes) together with an accompanying autoimmune arthritis [Talal, 1987, PMID 3476632]. Although patients have a markedly increased lifetime risk of developing non-Hodgkin lymphoma, lymphoma is a complication, not a defining component of the syndrome itself [Voulgarelis & Skopouli, 2007, PMID 17992593].
