The superficial cortex of a lymph node is organized into lymphoid (lymphatic) nodules/follicles that contain B-cell germinal centers; the other structures listed belong to the spleen (cords of Billroth, white pulp) or thymus (Hassall’s corpuscles) and are absent from lymph-node cortex [Sainte-Marie, 1985, PMID 3967283].
