Benzodiazepines can serve as intravenous hypnotic agents for induction of general anesthesia, and lorazepam has been used—alone or with opioids—for that purpose in cardiac and other surgeries [Ruff & Reves, 1990, PMID 2131881; Blitt, 1983, PMID 6136391]. The other options are not induction agents: bupivacaine is a local anesthetic, dexmedetomidine is chiefly a sedative/premedicant adjunct, and neostigmine is used to reverse neuromuscular blockade.
