An ideal denture-base is expected to be light in weight so that the prosthesis is comfortable and does not place undue stress on the residual ridge; therefore, low—not high—specific gravity is desirable. High specific gravity would make the denture heavier, whereas adequate strength, a dense non-irritating surface and good esthetics are all required characteristics of an ideal material [Alqutaibi 2023, PMID 37571151].
