Adult (autosomal-dominant) polycystic kidney disease is classically inherited in an autosomal-dominant fashion, is frequently complicated by hypertension, often shows extrarenal cysts in organs such as the liver and pancreas (and even lungs), and is prone to recurrent urinary infections including pyelonephritis; hence the statement that “hypertension is rare” is incorrect [Rahbari-Oskoui 2014 PMID 24463189; Sklar 1987 PMID 3300296].
