Protein C deficiency creates a hereditary hyper-coagulable state that predisposes to venous thrombosis (e.g., painful calf DVT) and placental thrombosis leading to recurrent spontaneous abortions, whereas deficiencies of factor VII, plasmin or thrombin cause bleeding rather than thrombosis [Richards 1997, PMID 9332323; Bonnar 1999, PMID 10625206].
