Escitalopram, like other SSRIs, commonly causes nausea and gastrointestinal upset, sexual dysfunction such as anorgasmia, and sleep-related phenomena including vivid or “abnormal” dreams. Its anticholinergic profile, however, leads more often to dry mouth rather than excessive salivation; sialorrhea is not a recognized SSRI adverse effect and is classically linked to drugs such as clozapine, not escitalopram [Burke, 2002, PMID 12387707].
