Children with isolated growth-hormone deficiency are usually born with normal length and weight; growth failure (short stature) becomes evident only after infancy, whereas neonatal hypoglycaemia, delayed dentition and delayed pubertal development/sexual infantilism are well-recognized manifestations of the disorder [Niklasson, 1994, PMID 8193501; Hopwood, 1975, PMID 169689].
