Copper-bearing IUDs (Copper T), the levonorgestrel intra-uterine system (LNG-IUS) and the single-rod implant Implanon are all classified as long-acting reversible contraceptives with rapid return of fertility after removal [Practice Bulletin No. 186, 2017, PMID 29064972]. In contrast, laparoscopic tubal ligation is a form of female sterilization designed to provide permanent contraception and is therefore not reversible [Schwarz et al., 2022, PMID 35194746].
