Compartment syndrome, myositis ossificans and malunion (cubitus varus) are well-recognized early or late complications of paediatric supracondylar humeral fractures, whereas non-union is exceptionally rare because these fractures generally heal rapidly in children and is therefore not regarded as a typical complication [Tschopp, 1996, PMID 9148640; Hartigan, 2001, PMID 11234943].
