Korff’s (von Korff) fibres are thick Type III collagen bundles that pass between odontoblasts and become incorporated into the first-formed outer layer of dentine—mantle dentin—where they help establish the initial dentinal matrix before circumpulpal dentin is laid down [Ten Cate, 1978, PMID 632213; Bishop et al., 1991, PMID 2063809].
