Adenomatoid odontogenic tumour characteristically arises in the anterior maxilla and is frequently linked to an unerupted tooth—classically the maxillary canine—earning it the nickname “two-thirds tumour” (≈ 2/3 occur in the maxilla and 2/3 are associated with an impacted tooth) [Nonaka et al., 2007, PMID 17505612].
